More Quidditch

For the main Quidditch this term, each player was asked to create 3 items that would go to charity. Charity could mean that it went to a friend or someone who needed the item. On the other hand you could indeed, find a charity and craft for them. Now, I'm as much a supporter of charities as the next person but for this I went more personal.

I made two scarves and a pair of booties. The booties are going to a friend who just found out that she's expecting. :D The pattern said they were newborn size but didn't come out so. That's okay - she can use them when the baby gets big enough to fit into them.

The scarves were made for something that one of my aunts wanted to do. She thought it would be fun if I would craft a scarf for every aunt. I ran out of time to do the third so I'll work on that in August or something.

The good news is that now that Quidditch is done, I can get back to working on classes! I only have two left (finished one up this morning) and a week in which to do them. Maybe for the first time, I won't be turning in projects on the last day!

An Update!

I have now completed 35% of my OWL - that's almost 4 of the 10 hats needed!

I've decided to see how quickly I can knit up something for Divination and Arithmancy. For Divination, I'm going to be doing a dishcloth with the Cancer symbol on it. The pattern can be found here - the author of the pattern has one for all 12 signs! And for Arithmancy, I'll be making yet another pair of Fetching and a simple garter scarf for my cousin. When I get around to finishing what I originally wanted to do for Arithmany, I'll have a glove/scarf set for me and a hat/scarf set for my cousin. All in the same blue.

There's only a week left of October and I've still got a lot of knitting on my plate! I ended up with so much inspiration for projects this month and no time to knit it all because I had to focus on my OWL to get the 50 points for my 33%. If I don't get a chance to finish many of my WIPs before December, that's what I'll focus on.

HP Knitting!

The 6th Harry Potter movie - Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, is coming out July 15th. I've been meaning to get back into working on my Slytherin house scarf so that I can wear it to the premiere. This past weekend ABC family played the 3rd and 4th movies a lot so it got me back into the Harry Potter fandom. Thus, I've been working on my scarf. I'm going to see if I can knit about a stripe, maybe two, per day. There are 19 stripes total so each stripe is 5% and the final 5% of the scarf will be the fringe.

I'm not going to make it as big as the pattern calls for (because the HP scarves are BIG) because I'm not wearing a really thick and warm scarf in the middle of July!

After the scarf, I'm going to try to make a pair of handwarmers to wear in the cold theater. I have never known a theater to be anything other than cold. Whenever I go see a movie in the theater, I take a jacket so I don't freeze to death. The pattern for the gloves is one I'm making up. It'll be interesting because I've never done any kind of gusset before. Or anything besides hats and scarves. XD

House Scarves

While working on my friend's Slytherin scarf, I realized just how much fun I'm having knitting it. So I've decided to make myself the four house scarves from Harry Potter. XD This site gives the house colors plus a very easy pattern on how to make the scarves. I'm only on the second stripe of my friend's scarf and I'm all excited. Haha~ My plan is to first make myself a Slytherin scarf so I can wear it in July when I go to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I'm also going to reread the Harry Potter books before then which means I probably need to get started.

I haven't done much reading lately because knitting, writing, and being lazy take up all my time. XD
